I still don't have anything planted in my garden much to my dismay. Saturday was absolutely beautiful, but we were too busy prepping for a party at our home. Next on the list of things to do asap are:
- Till in manure and mulch
- Plant strawberries, asparagus, lettuce, carrots, beets, and peas directly in the garden.
- Start a whole mess of seeds inside
Here are some of my new seedlings coming up.
This is a Lisianthus. It's an absolutely gorgeous flower, and one of my very original seedlings. Unfortunately it is extremely slow growing! It's still no bigger than a dime.
Anyone who has ever grown anything with children knows what these are! Marigolds! I personally don't find Marigolds to be an attractive flower, but they are great at keeping rabbits away. These marigolds will surround my vegetable garden as a natural pest repellent.
My Portulaca (Moss Rose). I absolutely adore this flower. It blooms all summer long and is just gorgeous. It's great for both pots as well as beds/gardens.
Ipomopsis. This flower is my absolute favorite to say out loud. EYE-poe-MOP-sis. Love it! It is a huge Hummingbird attractor.
Gomphrena. Gigi picked this one out. Neat patterning on the leaves.
This is one of my most recent purchases. Alternanthera. When it matures, it's supposed to have deep reddish purple foliage. I love not just the flowers, but the colors and textures of the plant leaves too.
A full tray of nothing but flats of seedlings.
